Go4IT provides support and access to the benefits of technology and the ever-increasing online world that the majority of us take for granted. We promote Digital Inclusion by removing barriers and providing training, assessment, access to equipment and support. Go4IT services can also be provided to individuals and services outwith Quarriers at a reasonable cost.
Quarriers Go4IT service was awarded the 2013 Care Accolade in the adults and older people category. The service was also a finalist in the 2014 Digital Leaders 100 Awards. Digital Inclusion Lead Diane Webb received a TalkTalk Digital Hero Award in 2014, and the service was shortlisted in the innovation category at the Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce awards in 2014 and 2015, and the 2015 Laing Buisson Awards.
Thanks to a grant from The People’s Postcode Trust, Quarriers Go4IT Service has been able to purchase an essential Eye Gaze system for individuals who are only able to control a computer with their eye movements as well as touchscreen laptops, a head tracker and accessible large mice which make it easier for more adults with disabilities to use and access technology.
Our service provides weekly IT clubs which support members to access the internet, play games, use word processing programmes and pursue their interests. Club members also have the chance to meet new people, staff and volunteers, and make new friends.
We also deliver short-term courses on subjects including assistive technology, internet safety and using the internet for activities such as banking, Skype and social networking. We can also tailor training for specific devices such as mobile phones and tablets.
Go4IT also carries out one-to-one home assessments. These look into what support an individual will need to access technology.
Go4IT has a bank of equipment available for loan. The lending library service allows people to borrow a range of equipment including laptops and assistive technology and try them out before making a decision to buy.
