Emergency Planning for Carers
Worrying about what might happen if you’re unexpectedly unable to provide care, perhaps because the car breaks down or you take ill, can give carers many sleepless nights.
Taking time to think about this in advance, with the person you care for, and putting a plan in place that key people are aware of, makes this less of a problem, and gives you peace of mind that, if the unexpected happens, there are people who know what has to happen, and when.
Enable Scotland has developed an Emergency Planning Toolkit for carers which takes you through a planning process step-by-step to help you think about the information you’d need to include in a plan to share with others who might need to know. This could be your neighbour, your GP, social worker and other professionals involved in the support for you or the person you care for.
