  • Epilepsy is the most common, serious neurological condition affecting Scotland today and can happen to anyone at any time.
  • Around 54,000 people in Scotland are affected by epilepsy.
  • 9,000 people in Scotland have a misdiagnosis of epilepsy. They’re prescribed ineffective and potentially harmful drugs while their true condition is untreated.
  • People with epilepsy are five times more likely to commit suicide than the general population.
  • You’re nearly three times more likely to be unemployed if you have epilepsy.
  • 7,800 people have learning disabilities together with epilepsy.
  • Quarriers has been supporting people with epilepsy since 1906.

The William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre provides the only residential assessment and treatment centre in Scotland for adults with epilepsy. Our 12 bedded in-patient facility provides flexible, patient-centred residential assessment for adults 16 years and over.

We offer a multi-disciplinary in-depth assessment to people with the most complex diagnostic and treatment needs. People can be referred to The William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre to clarify diagnosis, provide individual advice and support as well as make changes to your treatment in a safe environment.

Quarriers provides Epilepsy Fieldwork Services across the north east of Scotland, supporting people in the community who have epilepsy as well as those who support them. We can help in providing accurate information on your specific type of epileptic seizure and the physical, social, emotional and psychological effects of living with the condition.
